The MC3V was a high performance 1 to 3 axis interpolated motion controller with I/0, suitable
for motion control applications using stepper motors, or with an additional interface, small servo
motors. The high performance was obtained using two 16 bit microprocessors and an Application Specific
Integrated Circuit (ASCI) which resulted in a system capable of executing up to 150 vectors per second.
The speed of motion between consecutive vectors could be maximised to suit the system being controlled
by motion parameters for each of the axes. This resulted in greatly increased performance when
compared with point to point control systems. The third axis could be operated as an interpolated
axis or as an automatically positioned tangential axis, to for example automatically position a knife
blade tangential to the movement direction of the first two axes.
This controller was ideally suited to applications where low cost and high performance were required.
The control accepted both setup and job data via an optically isolated RS232 interface.
Inputs and outputs were optically isolated to ensure reliable operation in a wide range of demanding
environments. An optional hand held keypad could be provided.
MC3V's were supplied to be compatible with a subset of both DMPL and HPGL plotter interface languages
enabling them to be used directly with a wide range of drawing and CAD packages. As this is a complete
independent controller, the host computer is freed for use on other tasks, which may be required.
Features within the MC3E controller include: - Programmable System Parameters
- RS232 Interface
- External Stop
- Continuous Controlled Movement
- Minimum Inter Block Delay
- High Speed Block Processing
- Feedrate Override Control
