The PNC2C Programmable Numerical Control was a very versatile Continuous Path Process
controller and programmer, designed to precisely control positioning machines, as well as additional related
processes. The controller was an improved version of the PNC2. The PNC2C incorporated a stepper motor
controller, digital position readouts and a programmable sequence controller, together with a magnetic cassette
unit used for rapid program storage and retrieval. The heart of the control system was a powerful computer
which accurately controlled from one to four axes of movement, 16 auxiliary functions and monitored eight user
assigned input signals. The PNC2C was designed to be a low cost, reliable, accurate system. The PNC2C
unit was suitable for all types of machine tools, i.e. drilling, milling, shaping, cutting, boring, slotting,
engraving, automatic welding and profile cutting by conventional or laser methods. The programmable sequence
control element of the PNC-2C enabled it to additionally control related processes e.g. component loading,
batching etc.
