This low cost, reliable, accurate system was ideal for a wide range of applications, which required positioning.
At the heart of the system was a powerful NEE designed computer which gave the PNC3 the ability
to precisely control up to 4 axes of movement with linear and circular interpolation on 2 axes at programmable
feedrates. Related functions and processes could also be controlled. The PNC3 could also act as a process
controller by giving up to 16 programmable auxiliary outputs and monitoring 8 programmable user assigned
input signals. This means many of the functions on the unit being controlled can be brought into the
sequence of events e.g. coolant, spindle control, clamps, ram loading and conveying equipment.
The
PNC3 9" display provided the user with:-
A display of complete machine status.
Prompts to assist in using the control system.
Sections of the program during program
loading, editing and execution,
- Machine, Control Unit and Program Error Information.
The PNC3 control gave the extra option of being able to program by using the dedicated keys or by
the internally recognised machine code system.
For easy input, a keyboard system was provided where
programming could be carried out either by using dedicated keys, one for each function or by using
standard G and M codes.
Other standard features included jog keys, digitise/teach mode, feed override,
data links, scaling, mirror image, subroutine, repeats, offsets, dwell and full edit facilities.
