The AMC Family of Machine and Motion Controllers
The AMC is no longer the name for one controller but a whole family providing a full range of control
options for the system builder and original equipment builder. The full family will be on show at Machine
Building Exhibition Stand 104.
All the AMC family have the same major benefit of Smooth, High Speed Motion to meet the increasing demands
on motion and machine controllers. AMC controllers use RISC processor technology to provide you with the
computational ability to remove any mechanical system performance restrictions as a result of the controller.
The parameters within the controller are set to get the best from your mechanical system optimising the
performance for all of the job programs run on your system. The AMC can be supplied in a variety
of ways dependant on the application and the method of system integration to be used. For system builders
wanting to use their own drive amplifier and motor combination there is the AMC B, a bookcase controller
for up to 6 axes of stepper and servo signals.
The AMC-E is a board set for those who would prefer
building into their own systems. NEE have the expertise to design customised packaging of controllers and
drive interfaces for a variety of special applications.
For those who prefer a fully integrated
solution, other AMC controls can be supplied either in it's uniquely designed case or a 19" rack with the
stepper or servo amplifiers and power supplies together with the control cards, interfaced in a single
housing solution. This arrangement minimises the cabling requirements on the machine resulting in a cheaper,
more reliable to install and more easily maintained system.
Each of the family of controls has a
plc element, fully programmable I/O with outputs switching on the fly and conditional program execution.
The AMC controls have an analogue output which can be programmed to give, for example, variable spindle
speeds. When used for dispensing valves or for laser power for example the analogue output can vary
proportionally dependent upon the surface feed-rate.
The AMC will accept data in a number of formats
allowing you to use your favourite software package to create the job programs. From HPGL, ISO G and M
codes, ESSI and NEE's own Graphical Programming Software.
AMC controllers allow data to be received
from a PC whilst executing a job without stopping the machine. This allows very large programs to be sent
to the controller without affecting job cycle times.
Where the AMC controllers are fitted with
the standard panels the display can readout in German, French, Spanish or English.
Two software
products complete the family picture. WinAMC® is a full flexible operator interface where all the functions
of the AMC control can be monitored on either a touchscreen or PC providing the exact functions for any
level of operator. WinAMC® provides a set of virtual switches buttons and display components for axes
readout, I/O status and provide manual functions direct from the virtual panel.
Graphical
Programming Software, GPS, has been designed to give an easy and rapid method of creating job programmes
and graphically verifying motion control and plc sequences
AMC Controls are used on a wide range
of machines for example
- Plasma cutting, with height control,
- Laser with pulsed
outputs,
- Liquid dispensing with switching on the fly and the analogue output variable with
the programmed feedrate
- Wood and metal routing with tool cutter compensation and also if
required, multiple high powered spindle motors and tool changing options,
- High speed plotting
tables with Tangential heads,
- Water jet cutting machines with high speed and smooth motion control
