The Osprey is a Servo motor driven Gantry system that builds into a low cost machine for a wide variety
of workshop applications that need low cost machines without sacrificing reliability, job throughput or
finished part quality. This New concept is to provide all the parts required in simple to assemble kit
form which make up into a general purpose production machine, where the customer proves his own base,
table or tank depending on the application. On site assembly can be completed in a few hours, with no
experience required.
The Osprey is ideal for a variety of applications including routing, engraving,
plasma, laser and water jet cutting.
The machine is pre-assembled at the factory, fitted with all
servo-motors, datum switches, interfaced together with the wiring harnesses. The harness extends to the
AMC control, this houses all of the motion control elements of the system, the drive amplifiers and power
supplies necessary to drive the machine. All parts of the system are configured and tested as a system
before shipment ensuring that the system will work first time, when it's received.
After testing,
the Osprey is broken down into kit form and packed into 4 cases, the mechanical system is provided in
three sections, with the control unit in the fourth case. When the cases are received, the sections are
removed from the cases and the mechanical sections are bolted together using the 16 bolts provided,
connect up the wiring by plugging together the mating connectors and connect the wiring harness to the
back panel of the AMC controller. On site assembly can be completed in a few hours, with no experience
required.
The machine is available in a range of table sizes, from 2 x 2 feet to 20 x 20 feet.
The system comes complete with a shop proven, state of the art NEE Controls Ltd AMC machine controller
and Graphical Programming Software. GPS as well as giving an easy method of job creation, it can convert
files from any CAD package, including DXF and HPGL into machine codes. It allows manually or graphically
editing of the job program sequence, to which I/O sequences and tool offsets etc can be added, before sending
to the AMC controller.
NEE Controls Ltd experience, in supplying motion and machine controllers,
successfully for many years, shows that much support is required with new applications and systems. System
builders, special purpose machine builders and OEM's generally need assistance in a number of areas, for
example in choosing the right size and type of motors and drive system, tuning the servo motor system,
with wiring and assistance with commissioning. All these factors are resolved by using the Osprey Machine
system where all these potential problem areas have one simple solution.
